10 Things You May Not Know About Your Customer
Posted on 10. Jun, 2010 by admin in Business, Customer Service
1. Logging in is a hindrance – The log-in page is a major turn off for your visitors, and you are risking that bit of opportunity for your site to be considered. When it comes to online transactions, it is normal for the customers to be less trusting, and getting some important information from them is not a great help in earning that trust.
2. They prefer if you K.I.S.S – Keep it short and simple. Aside from it’s hard enough to read on-screen, you don’t want to test their patience by taking so much of their time. Give them what you have to offer, right away. The rest of the sales talk may come in the latter part, once you’ve already established the connection.
3. They really don’t care how good you are with web designing. The Apple.com web page is not like that for no reason. Simpler lay-out is easier to look at.Too much design and too many effects may only intimidate them, or worse discourage them, because your page may be taking a long time to load. Don’t make them wait, because they won’t.
4. Make your text readable. The smaller the font, the more powerful it is. But when you’re doing business, you have to be aesthetically friendly. Don’t make your readers suffer by making your font too small, and too complicated. Serif fonts are easier to read.
5. Scrolling is alright. Readers don’t mind long pages, as long as the sentences or paragraphs are kept short. In fact, fitting the whole content in one page is not too relaxing for the reader’s eyes.
6. Internet Explorer is still the top browser. It is safe to assume that a bigger number of your customers are still using Internet Explorer. It is important to know this in order to make your design or plan appropriate.
7. Mind your content. Web pages don’t really need smart, profound writers. Complicated sentences and words won’t really impress them, because they did not check you out for any intellectual exercise. Remember, you write to sell.
8. Not all of them are Mobile. While it is cool and trendy to be mobile-compatible, don’t invest too much on it, because majority of your audience are still staring at their monitor screens.
9. Web URLs are hard to memorize. Twitter.com, Facebook.com, and the likes may be an exception. But you’re relatively long and infamous site may be hardly retained in your customers’ mind, so make sure to have many available options for your customers to bookmark or subscribe.
10. Wants are more exciting than needs. Lest you have not observed, grocery is boring, but shopping is exciting. Perhaps, there’s just that inexplicable happy feeling of getting what we ‘want’, so make sure that you offer more of these ‘exciting’ stuffs.
