The Main Disadvantages of Employing Home-Based Agents

There are many freelance agents on the market, and with the rising trend of online jobs, the concept of working from home has become an attractive option for many people. The appeal is understandable: You don’t have to get out of the house to go to work. You don’t even need to take a bath. All you have to do is just wake up, sit yourself down in front of the computer to do your work. A dream come true, right? For some, yes, but for clients that want output of consistent quality, this may become a hassle. Here are a few reasons why:
Home-based workers tend to be more distracted than their office counterparts. All home-based workers are guilty of this to some extent, especially those who live with their families. There are chores to do, errands to run here and there, and sometimes sleep to catch up on. Those who work in an office tend to be more focused, since there are social and structural mechanisms in play to ensure that people do what’s expected of them.
It’s hard to monitor output. Because of this fact, most home-based workers tend to be late with their tasks. They can laze off at any moment, and businesses can suffer dearly for this sloth. It’s not difficult to make up excuses on the spot, which some of them are relatively notorious for.
Of course, it’s still okay to employ home-based workers, but make sure that they are highly disciplined when it comes to work. Avoid any lazy workers by looking at their profiles and records. But if you want to outsource a lot of tasks, sometimes you’d be better off hiring virtual assistants from outsourcing companies.
