Viewing Revision History in Google Docs Help Manage Online Collaborative Projects

Using Google Docs for your shared documents online is convenient for collaborative projects that utilize one reference or one final document output in a shared folder. Collaboration involves two or more individuals that will probably make one or more revisions in the final document. Google had launched its friendlier interface for document revision history viewing. Now anyone in one project can easily trace back the changes made in the shared document s with details such as the user/viewer, time, date, and detailed revision history options.

To locate the newly-added feature, open the Google Doc file and click on the “File” tab and then choose “See revision history”. A window would pop out labeled “Document history” on the right side of the screen of your Google Doc file. The most current revision will appear on the uppermost part and the rest in descending order. There is also an optional check box “Show changes” that can show text changes in green fonts for distinguishing purposes. Another tab is found at the bottom part of the pop out box “Show less detailed revisions” that expands the listed revision history entries.

With this new interface, project managers can easily monitor changes in any Google Docs document file. Any errors or unauthorized revision can become minimal and this means more time in the project concept spent by project managers than in monitoring the online document. Security and reliability of project documents are assured by this new and free interface from Google Docs for its avid users.
